Door 18 and 19

Door 18:
The Nightmare before Christmas (2003)

The Pumpkin King is bored with having only Halloween.  He finds himself in another land, and is     more than fascinated.  He decides that this time his people will have Christmas  instead.  He let's Sandy Claws kidnap to give him a break and be Sandy instead.

Door 19:
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)

A father, a tree, a slide, some special oil and a Christmas gratification.

Already prepared next year's calendar.  I changed it a bit by renaming the movies so I don't know what they are anymore and randomly put them into new folders marked 1 to 24.  So by next year I won't know which movie will be in.

Doors 5 to 17

I have to make a summary on my movie advent calendar. I was quite busy watching movies, working, preparing lesson plans, knitting and doing some crochet work so there wasn't much time for writing here.  Not that anybody would read that blog anyways.

Anyhow, here are the movies I've watched and I'm lazy so I put a link to for a plot summary.

Day 17:
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)

Day 16:
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

Day 15:
Little Lord Fauntleroy (1980)

Day 14:
Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel (Tri orísky pro Popelku) (1973)

Day 13:
Bad Santa  (2003)

Day 12:
Die Hard 2 (1990)

Day 11:

Die Hard (1988)

Day 10:
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

Day 9:
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

Day 8:
A Christmas Story  (1983)

Day 6:
Rare Exports (2010)

Day 5:
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Door 3 and 4

Behind Door 3:

Blackadder's Christmas Carol.  Yet another version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Ebenezer Blackadder and Baldrick

Ebenezer Blackadder owns a moustache shop. He is the nicest person in England, however he is also poor and people are taking advantage of him.  He gives away all his money, his presents and even his christmas tree and turkey.  A ghost will visit him and show him how his ancestors lived an also how his future might be if he becomes a bad man.

Door 4:

Loriot: Weihnachten bei Hoppenstedts

Another classic.  This time a German one. It's about a family and their troublesome way until Christmas.  From buying presents to opening them and playing with them.

Christmas is Coming

It is the time of the year again when you can either open a door of your Adventskalender filled with chocolate OR you can watch a movie every day.

That is what I do. I started off with a classic on the first:

(from a google search)

Who wouldn't smile when Charlie Brown becomes the director of the Christmas play and gets mocked by everybody, even Snoopy. Thank god there is Linus and his blanket, who knows the true meaning of Christmas.

Today I watched another classic:

(from a google search)

Adam's and Adora's birthdays are not too far.  Preparations are on their way whilst Adam prepares a new rocket with Man-At-Arms.  There'll be some trouble with Orco 'stealing' the rocket and crashlanding on earth.  He'll save two kids and is told the christmas story.

Handarbeiten I

Avocado Banana Mouse

Ok, I found this recipe on the internet. Which is great because usually there is nothing there. There is a site called youtube, where, apparently, people post videos.  On that site there is a channel called Tastemade, great channel and there is one section called "raw.vegan.not gross." So here's the deal. I saw some of the videos there and one of them suggested mixing avocado with cocoa for a sweet treat. AVOCADO! I like avocado, but sweet?! So I tried it and it is actually good, I mean it. It's good. It is quite rich and filling I totally skip a dish for that!  I've done this recipe twice now and then I had to get rid of a nearly over-ripe banana, so I just added it to the recipe and what to say.  It also tastes good. So here you go with the recipe.
You can find the original one here.

1 ripe Avocado
1 ripe Banana
6-8 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 dash soy sauce
Agave or Maple syrup

How to:

Blend Avocado and Banana until smooth, add the soysauce, agavesyrup (be careful if the banana is really ripe you will need less, besides you can add more later on), keep blending. Now carefully add the cocoa powder and keep blending, it has to be really smooth.

Try a bit, if it's not sweet enough add more syrup until it is perfect for you.

This is not completely raw. 1st: I have to finish up my 'normal' soy sauce before I buy raw one. 2nd: I am not sure if there is any raw cocoa powder available in Germany, well maybe but not in my region. BUT I used organic and fairtrade ingredients only (well the cocoa powder was 98% fair trade, best offer I could get), so at least that one is good (except for my soy sauce, oh boy it's hard to be a good person sometimes, but where to find organic soy sauce? where? maybe at the supermarket?).  Although I don't know if it is really good to buy avocados in Germany because they are most likely flown in, anyhow.

Avocado Chocolate Pudding is SO good.
So is raw tomato pasta sauce.
So is ripe mango.
